What are images anyway?  At least what are images as they might relate to publishing projects?  There are some images that are favorite ones for photographers and artists.  Images like flowers, birds, animals, interesting people, mountains, oceans, lakes, rivers, sunrises, sunsets, landscapes of all kinds, cartoons, caricatures and so on.

Let's use sunrises to make the point about how images may become important published pieces with commercial value.

A sunrise* is one example of a unique natural image, one that has been defined, painted, photographed and presented in hundreds of forms by thousands, no by millions of people.  No one owns a sunrise, of course, but still it remains as one of the most powerful images in the human experience and one full of potential for a featured position on many commercial products.  Regarding commercial value, the whole question is whether an individual might have a clever way of presenting a sunrise for the edification and enjoyment of others who will be interested in actually paying for it.

* Images of grandeur like a sunrise cause people to intently focus upon the grand portion of the entire image.  For example, most people when viewing the above photo fail to see the foreground detail of the grassy field or the truck trail road.  Of course, they wouldn't be able to see what is on the road either if they weren't able to see the road.

On the Fox Publishing home page we said that in our business we feature:

images words objects

So in solving for X on an image like the sunrise image shown above the question really arises how might we use the image itself (the sunrise image) or of words about the image or of some object that features the image could there be which would have commercial value.

Here are different objects that illustrate the point:
